Props N Jets

There are props and there are jets, but what about both engines. since the late 1940's aircrafts engineers creates a bizzare design of giving jet engines to a prop aircraft. because of the jet age was coming and the prop fighters was still to slow they need to boost up the speed by giving an extra jet engine but it was still experimental. Here are the examples:

North American P-51 Mustang (With two Ford PJ-31 Pulsejet engine)
Origin: USA
First Flight: 1945
Type: Fighter
Speed: 400-500mph
The Mustangs was already one of the legendary fighters in the WWII because of its Merlin piston engine. However because of the new jet coming up and the USSR are already testing some fo their new aircrafts, the North American Aircraft company use the P-51 mustang and fitted with two jet engines. It boost more speed to the aircraft but it causes more drag in the aircrafts, the idea was dropped soon after the test.

Lavochkin LA-9 (With two RD-13 jets)
Origin: USSR/Russia
First Flight:1947
Type: Fighter
Speed: 690km/h
Armament: 4x 23mm cannons
Besides the P-51 mustang project the Russian made its own fighter from an LA-9 fighter aircraft fitted with two RD-13 jet engine. IT was suppose to boost more powere to the prop aircraft it was first flown in 1947.
