Heinkel Lerche

Origin: Germany
Type: VTOL Fighter/interceptor
Project Status: Never Been Built
Armament: Two MK108 30mm Canons

It was Heinkel's VTOL (Vertical Take OffLanding) fighter/interceptor aircraft, it was based on the Heinkel design of the "Wespe" (Wasp). The Heinkel engineers in Vienna starts their design in Febuary 25, 1945 and the design was completed in March 8, 1945. The "Lerche" (Skylark) has a ducted wing planform with a contratoring propellers, powered by two Daimler Benz DB605D engines. The Pilot has to lay in a prone position in the glazed nose cockpit. Its projected armament was two 30mm canons and possible three/four X-4 missiles (Which you can see on my last blog).

In Entertainment this aircraft is available in game called the 'IL-2 Sturmovik 1946' combat flight simulator.
